American political campaigns have traditionally been composed of a variety of artifacts: candidate speeches; accounts in the press; affinity totems (from ribbons to buttons to ringtones); conversations among ordinary voters.
Only in the digital era have these "conversations" been captured en masse. Ironically, as this data is captured automatically, less attention is paid to making sure that the information is well presented for convenient retrieval.
Campaign Trails is a nonprofit, educational project which aims to locate online digital archives of these political campaign conversations and make them available for the benefit of all.Campaign Trails is a project of Jon Garfunkel of Civilities.net
