they should do a breakdown of where the money goes. how much for halliburton, how much for bechtel, how much for dyncorp, etc.

An old guy with one of those caps with patches detailing his extensive military service struck up a conversation with me on the train this morning (having noticed my ever-present Dean button). He said he and his wife had discussed whom to vote for in 2000 for days on end, eventually deciding on W, whom they saw as the lesser of two evils, and ... he thinks they made a mistake. A big one. Said that the money being spent on Iraq, and the tax-cut deficit-spending situation it blew wide open, was terrible -- absolutely terrible -- for our country, and he regrets his vote mightily. I pointed to the button and said we've got a chance to change it in about a year ... and he just grinned from ear to ear and said he'd check Dean out, for sure.
