Clark raised a lot of money ($10 million plus almost $4 million in matching funds)

Take this, troll:
"It's getting to be pretty hard to see how you stop Howard Dean," said pollster John Zogby, who said the attacks so far were not having the desired effect. "His supporters seem to rally around him the more he's in crisis."

If the Clintons sabotage Dean, they will be risking open warfare within the Democratic Party and that won't help Hillary in 2008.
Actually Clark should be wary of Clinton's support because Bill could be setting him up to lose the general election in favor of Hillary in 2008. If I was Clark, I'd trust the Clintons right now about as much as Duncan, the Scottish king, should have trusted Macbeth. Terry from Killingly CT | Email | Homepage | 01.02.04 - 4:12 pm | #

CNN: Dean Leads Democrats, Trails Bush by Only 5 Points
From the Oblog today
Inside Politics reports on a new CNN/Time Poll of 1,004 adult Americans conducted by telephone on December 30 and January 1.
Despite constant attacks from the inside-the-beltway pundits and campaigns, who keep charging that Dean is "unelectable," he now trails George Bush by a mere 5 points -- 51% to 46%. Anonymous | Email | Homepage | 01.02.04 - 4:43 pm | #

Say what indeed.
CNN's poll numbers are frankly unbelievable at this point. No one is really paying attention, yet Dean picks up 46%. That's huge. He's getting creamed right now from all directions, and he's pulling closer. This is a good sign.
Obviously, there is plenty of work to do. But we're even stronger than we think we are, and we haven't even gotten started.

Am I alone in hoping beyond hope the bridge to a Dean/Clark ticket has not been burned? I still like Clark the man but his campaign sucks a dead donkey's pol (short for politician, sheesh). Chris Lehane is working his campaign 'magic' with that group. It's unfortunate, he's my second choice (a distant second but he's still better than the other . Of course his blog has a post titled 'Welcome Dean Supporters'. It has a bunch of '...why I switched' stories. This crap is easily beneath their candidate. Show some class Wes. Fire them all.

Just in case there is still someone out there with a sense of humor here is a post from Altercation:
Name: Charles Pierce Hometown: Newton, MA Eric -- Don't think Stupid and I are unaware of your subtle attempts to divide the independent power base that is forming around Slacker Friday. Your Jedi mind-tricks are useless, pal. We are united. The Man can't bust our music. One of my favorite anti-Dean legends so far is the "problem" with his having inadvertently said, "Soviet Union" when he meant to say, "Russia." Ahem, do we not all recall my main man Andy Hiller up here in Boston, quizzing C-Plus Augustus on various world leaders, and getting naught but a vacant grin in response? Remember how the Cool Kids were outraged -- I thought Dean Broder was going down with the vapors for sure -- at this horrible moment of "Gotcha" journalism? Remember, later in the campaign, when C-Plus Augustus clearly didn't realize Social Security was a federal program? Remember food on your family? Making the pie higher? Grecians? Remember when there was journalism?

If there is a Dean/Clark ticket, then the Dean campaign would have to merge with Clark's staff. Think about that when you enthuse about Dean/Clark. Anthony Segredo | Email | Homepage | 01.02.04 - 9:42 pm | #

while i dont doubt there are true defections, there is another as aspect to them that i find so odd. you see people on dkos who switch back and forth all the time. one day, they're dean; next day, they're clark; a couple of days later, they're back to dean again.
