I know the campaign is trying hard with the weblog thing and all, but you should really link to the "permalink" instead of just the blog. That way when someone comes and reads this news in two weeks, they'll still be able to find the link to the original story on the offical Dean blog.

More to the point, this is really awesome news. I can't wait to tell the people at Meetup tonight.

The best part about this is this: "ontributions came from more than 12,000 individual donors. More than $2 million of the contributions will qualify for federal matching funds under campaign law."

$2 million matchable means that only $600,000 came from parts of donations of over $250.

In the next quarter, we should focus on increasing the number of small donations. The $10 Meetup challenge is a good figure. $25 is the high end. We want something that everyone can give. Next quarter will be more important than this one to prove that Dean has staying power. 12,000 people donated 1st quarter. Let's try to make that 50,000 next quarter!

I can't wait for tonight's meetup either. Everyone remember to bring their cameras and, if possible, send the photos to DeanVolunteers.org. The Pew Research Center said that signs of grassroots support ("Campaigns that show off the names, faces, and numbers of citizens who back them") can be "infectious"!

Over $2 million is eligible to be matched! That's incredible. That $600,000 in bigger check contributions will go up enormously in the upcoming quarters due to this news (also as people like Judith Hope, Rob Reiner and others get rolling).

Please, everybody, keep talking about Dr. Dean's message to everyone you know, and encourage them to make a donation through the Internet.

The best thing about the campaign's success in raising money on the Internet is that it doesn't have to spend money on direct-mail solicitations, which have a pretty bad record in terms of the return on investment.
