I'm actually glad that Dr. Dean is still being called a "long shot." The man who is tied for 1st in early April 2003 won't get the press coverage that the "long shot" candidate will. See Sen. John McCain on the cover of Newsweek in the 2000 GOP primary. Matt Bailey | Email | Homepage | 04.12.03 - 5:15 pm | #

Yeah, but McCain didn't get the nomination-unfortantly. (At least McCain is better than the Shrub anyday *snort*). Here' hoping for a Dean victory by June and then his full nomination at the Democratic Covention. **closes eyes and crosses fingers**
I just hope he makes it to Pennsylvania since PA is one of the final states in the Primaries.
Do I want Dean to win? Hell yeah! Can other stuff happen between now and the convention? Yes. Am I holding my breath? No, I'm just taking it in one step at a time. I hope Dr. Dean is too.
It's all about luck, hope, money and good timing. Let's see what happens between now and the future. MelissaL | Email | Homepage | 04.12.03 - 9:06 pm | #

Okay, I have to refute this posting about McCain not getting the nomination with his "indie support." McCain only lost the nomination because he was running against a single candidate with all the money, endorsements, and name recognition wrapped up by the time McCain became big -- something the Democrats have thus far failed to put up against Dean. Even then, polls showed the mass of the American people favoring McCain over either Bush or Gore -- only the entrenched Republican party system stopped him (one of the reasons I'm a Nonpartisan). Kerry may be the putative frontrunner, but the continued strength of candidates like Edwards, Gephardt, Lieberman, and Graham keep him from pulling on Dean the crushing triangle of money, endorsements, and inevitability that Bush was able to pull on McCain.
A further note: close reading of this article indicates that the author feels Dean, Kerry, and Gephardt are the only credible candidates at this point -- and Kerry's status is in question. In a Dean-vs.-Gephardt race, I can only say this: Which candidate is ahead by FAR in New Hampshire? This will not even be close. Nonpartisan for Dean | Email | Homepage | 04.13.03 - 1:29 pm | #
