Right on! I’d like to repeat RULE 7 from “Rules for Radicals” : "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag." Don't become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)” |
I agree. Especially the campaign needing to wait a day, or "count to ten". Trippi's statement was not constructive at all, not answering the issue (evasive) and instigating the whole free-for-all. |
I think it is possible that the only way to beat Bush is to engage him on HIS issue, the post-9/11 world and national security. ESPECIALLY Dean, who may not be listened to on his domestic issues until he passes the national security litmus test in the eyes of the general electorate. What does this mean? Relentlessly point out eveything Bush/Rove do which shows how they are EXPLOITING 9/11 to advance the right-wing Rebuplican agenda. |
I agree this Lehane thing is getting dull. How many more miles can you ride this tired old chestnut? OK, now that everyone has patted themselves on the back and made Kerry go defensive, let's get back to real work. |
I disagree with the idea of waiting 24 hours before responding to any attack. The Clinton War Room rule applies here: never let an attack go to bed without a vigorous response. |
Hmm. Today's was definitely silly. The Clinton quote was worth passing on, and I don't know enough about whether you can afford to wait.... |
I don't know about everyone else, but I think Matthew Gross goes a little over the line in his comments on the Call to Action blog and The Note. The continual refernces to the Anointed One are childish. I don't find it funny at all. Maybe once, but the continual references are tiring. And the focus on Kerry is getting to be a bit much too. Dean has to get back to talking about his ideas - not criticizing the other candidates. |
I agree with what most people have been saying in their comments (that Dean's camp may be pushing this a little too far and that "The Annointed One" should be scrapped), but I think there has been a purpose behind pushing this too far: it has gotten Dean's name out there. This Dean vs. Kerry thing has really took off in the media. I think it is a smart political move for Dean's people to take this "any publicity is good publicity" approach leading into this Saturday's debate. It will get his name out there and draw people into the debate. I hope that Dean then uses Saturday's debate to shift the focus to his own policies and to attacking Bush's policies instead of attacking Kerry's attack. It may be wishful thinking, but I think that the Dean camp is just trying to draw people into Saturday's debate where Dean will then be able to reach a larger audience with his own vision for America. |
Why doesn't Dean stand up and say, "Of course, I hope one day our country doesn't have the strongest military. Rather, I hope that one day no countries have militaries. Imagine.... all the people, living life in peace." |
