Man, Dean's media coverage is just taking off like a rocket lately.

Joey,

I read over at DailyKos that you are planning to join the Dean campaign. Would you be interested in blogging here as a contributor from within the campaign? I can set you up with an account very easily.

Does anyone know if Dean's doing anything in Oregon? I saw his Iowa speech on C-Span last night and was blown away. Would love to join the campaign.

Susanne:

I recently relocated to Eugene, Oregon. I too am very interested in becomming involved in the Dean presidential campaign nationally, with particular interest in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. I used to be a registered Democrat, but have been a "reform" independent for the last eight years. I have sent numerous e-mails to the Dean For America effort in Burlington, VT and just the other day, I was assured by the DFA "Public Realtions Department" that a (paraphrase)"new, much improved Dean website would be up-and-running within a week". I certainly hope so, as his website effort thus far has been quite lame. I am a reformer, and want to learn more about Dean's reform credentials and pedigree, particularly on political reform, fiscal/budgetary reform, FAIR not free trade, and substantive entitlement reform. Until I learn MUCH more, I will remain in the "might support Dean" camp. I also like Senator Bob Graham because of his reform credentials and foreign policy experience, as well as his overall moderate centrist policy stands.

Susanne... I will let you know what I find, and it is my fervent hope that there will be an active Dean Oregon and Pacific NW campaign effort in the coming months.

Very glad to see all of the positive coverage Gov. Dean is receiving. If he can keep up the momentum this early on and raise some cash, he'll be well-positioned to challenge the senators on substance.

Go Dean Go!

Aziz -- I don't know how much time I'll have to do the blogging while I'm up there. I'm picturing 18-hour days. Also, I'm not so sure that the press secretary would be too keen on the idea of someone in the campaign office posting information about the campaign on a blog, ifyouknowwhatImean.

I do appreciate the offer, though.

For another great news coverage about Dean please read:

Things are starting to get very interesting !!

I understand there's an organizing meeting in Portland, OR on Feb. 5th... at Bridgeport Brewpub, I think. Good sign if they're this organized this early!

Was surprised/disappointed that the Dean team didn't go for media coverage when he was out here recently keynoting a speech with Governor John Kitzhaber (now "former" Governor), another doctor-governor.

Maybe some locals can get things going for him out here...

Best, Christopher

C-SPAN DOES have a video of Dean's speech (along with those of Gephardt and Kerry) at its website, though you will have to search for it in the archives.

It should be the first archived video.

The liberal wackos always get good media coverage to start...they're Dan Rather's love children.

This is a Dean support organization, not a debate club. If you don't support this candidate, please go elsewhere, WCN.

Good luck with whoever your choice is...

Typical Democratic inclusiveness and willingness to expose ideas to challenge.

Typical troll insightfulness and ability to add substantive ideas to the discussion.

Thanks for stopping by guys. You've been a real big help.

I too have been thinking very seriously about supporting Dean. I am not a member of the Democratic party so I couldn't be of assistance in the primaries but he certainly seems to be the most capable man to replace the current pseudo-potus.

I thought the speech was really great. Gephardt just doesn't have the same energy. And Dean's more on-message than Kerry.

filchyboy:

What state do you live in? Many have open primaries, like in New Hampshire and here in Texas.

yes, filchyboy, see if you live in a state with open primaries. here in texas, back in 2K, i crossed over and voted in the republican primary - for john mccain. it just felt good to give my vote to mccain, especially in bush's home state.

Anna, I like your reasoning on the above topic of switching over to McCain just to insult Bush! I'm sorry
it didn't work.
It will take us years to climb out from under the mess, when we get this squatter out of the Whitehouse.

lucinda i understand. believe me i wish that gwb wasn't our president (and after all, let's all remember now that he did not win the election - he was appointed). but i'll tell ya, i didn't just cross over to jab bush in the eye; it was merely a nice little benefit of the open primary in texas. =) i voted for mccain because i believed in him, and had he run against gore i would have had a very difficult decision to make.

as it stands, this one is much easier. i know i want dean to be president, and i encourage anyone in an open primary state to vote for dean.

I think the Texas Democratic Party (there seem to be a lotta texas democrats associated with this blog- I'm one of them) should use it's muscle to back Dean in the primary. In the general election Texasis worthless to the Democrats, at least in 2004, but texas has over 30 votes in the primary system. If we can throw those behind Dean, you can just imagine the enormous momentum boost for his campaign. I think his independence and his dynamism could play really well here

Will, i agree with you 100%. i have been in contact with my local officials (tarrant county) and am planning on meeting with them to discuss dean. if possible, i urge you to do the same in your district. =)

Dean was the only national Democrat, much less presidential contender, present at the 2002 state convention in El Paso.
