It scared me thinking he could be responsible for our nation's security, but I don't think that will happen.

Why?

Though I think Dean performed in the A-/B+ range in that interview...what a hack that Tim Russert is! Did he ask ONE question that wasn't adversarial in tone? I'm all for tough reporting, and I hate softball questions as much as anyone...but, man, it really seemed like Russert was going out of his way to trip him up and get him off message.

I would've appreciated that tough treatment for Mr. Secretary-about-to-lead-us-into-war Powell.

You can't possibly be serious.

Tim Russert asked Mr. Dean direct questions, but as usual the Democrat response was NONE, Bla-Bla-Bla. Thanks to 8 years of the Clinton Administration our country became vulnerable, militarily weak, and we were attacked. At least President Bush tells it like it is, and we know were he stands. It's time to tell the world that we mean business. It's time for the US to be proactive and not wait to attack before being attacked! Our country would be taken over by the fanatics by now if the Dems now had the presidency and control of the Senate and /or the House.

Oh, and a couple of more issues! It is time to not worry about what the rest of the world thinks when we are being attacked in our own cities by cowardly enemies without nations that are funded by many nations. We are at war, with multiple groups of peoples around the world who are funded by countries that will chip away at us little by little until we are no more. North Korea is doing nothing but trying to extort money from me and all other tax payers of this country, we should at least do a regime change there to free the suffering people. And on that note Mr. Dean, what is so immoral about liberating an imprisoned Iraq populous! I haven’t heard of one Democrat give an iota about the inhumane atrocities that Saddam imposes on the Iraqi people. I guess moral to Mr. Dean is to have the UN dictate American Policy instead of having the balls to do it ourselves. You are no leader Mr. Dean!

They showed a clip of Dean tonight on the local news, saying that "democrats worry that the war in Iraq could set a dangerous precedent". That's the first time I've heard him talk.

"I guess moral to Mr. Dean is to have the UN dictate American Policy "

Did you read the article, Greg?

Greg,
Do you know how much damage a regieme change would cause in North Korea? Do you know they tried to intercept our spy plane to take it hostage? Do you know that there is a real danger of North Korea selling their rocket technologies and/or nuclear technology to hostile nations, since they are such an impoverished nation?

Gotta love it. The right wing is obviously terrified of Dean.

Thanks for the good news, Greg.

On a more serious note... Dean did a fabulous job with Tim Russert's questions. Tim was on the attack most of the program and Dean made his position clear and showed the hypocricy of the current administration. The only point I wish Dean had hit harder was pointing out that absolutely 0 evidence has been shown that Iraq actually continues to possess any weapons of mass distructions. The test as to whether we should attack unilaterally should be evidence based and so far this administration has failed to show any evidence of actual weapons.

It was also funny to see how far they have to dig to try to come up with something on Dean... A 1995 quote in which he agrees that the SS age should be raised. LOL

At this rate and with bush losing to an unnamed democrat in the latest poll, say hello to the next president, Dr. Howard Dean.

Anyone curious about Russert's concluding comment to Dr. Dean about campaigning (this following the interchange about gay civil unions). Russert said, "Be safe." Huh? Was that a slip of the tongue?

Anybody else find that uncomfortable, or worse?

Russert always says that to candidates, and I believe it comes from him witnessing numerous tragic air crashes, such as the ones that killed Senatorial candidates Mel Carnahan and Paul Wellstone. I was at a fundraiser for Dean after he taped Meet the Press, and he's even more genuine in person than he is during an interview. With that being said, I want all of those who want to support President Bush and his policies of pre-emption to either find or start a blog that is friendly to their candidate. Further, speaking as a recently retired Naval officer, I want these guys to go down to their local military recruiter and sign up for combat. Given the war we're about to fight and the war that will soon start in Korea, we're going to need all of these guys to bleed to death for the doctrine of pre-emption. The purpose of the Dean 2004 blog is for supporters of Dean to help advance his candidacy, not to promote the candidacy of the current President.

Well said CB. The Right Wing has finally realised what an incredibly good candidate we have in Howard Dean. We will see more and more of them infiltrating and making comments in our blogs trying to disrupt our momentum. Fear is already happening in Republican ranks and their is no primary yet !! Dean performed very very well and its interesting that he went up against both Colin Powell & Condi Rice on the Sunday news shows. Dean performs well under fire. This was great for his name recognition and the Dean 2004 campaign.

It is interesting that the Dean Blog is already drawing trolls. Unfortunately, it is depressing that we haven't yet attracted serious critics. That will come later, I suppose. The great advantage of this blog is the readers like you guys - because we can react to Dean in real-time, analyze his statements, create "campaign spin" as well as honest critique, identify weaknesses, etc.

We are Dean's War Room.

In the meantime, be tolerant of knee-jerk trolls like Greg who are only capable of recycling attack points like "Dean lets the UN overrule US security" in the very comment thread attache to a post that describes in crystal clear explicit terms how this is not true. Such trolls are incapable of actually reading text that was not pre-vetted by the RNC. They deserve our sympathy, and we can also use them to hone our defenses.

Make no mistake - drones like Greg are not teh real threat. There are far worse out there.

Aziz, Anna et al. So much for the folks who said that Dean "blew it" on Sunday. Check out this early appraisal from The New Republic. It's right on, and should be posted for all the bloggers to see. He's really poised to win the primary while maintaining, I should say building, appeal to the center. This campaign will not peak early b/c so many of his positions are appealing, unconventional, and yet to be tapped: http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=s...n&s=lizza030903

Best, Christopher

the more dean-haters we see, the better as far as i'm concerned. it shows a real quaking fear on behalf of republicans. they are scared to death that howard will get to run against bush, because they know bush will lose. you don't see this type of trolling on the kerry and edwards boards, interestingly enough. =)

it sounds to me like greg needs to turn off faux news. oh and speaking of faux, this should interest all of you. a court has just ruled that it's constitutional for faux news to lie:

click and click:

"Rupert Murdoch: If the Founding Fathers didn't want us to lie, why did they give us the First Amendment?

I suppose I shouldn't be shocked by this, but I am. A journalist working for Fox sued the company because it pressured her to air a story that she knew, and could prove, was a lie. Fox's lawyers argued that it isn't illegal to lie on a news broadcast, that, in fact, the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie. A Florida Appeals Court ruled in Fox's favor, and Fox ran a report afterwards that they were "totally vindicated by the verdict."

Fox's new motto: We lie, you try to figure out the truth."

When wing nuts like "Greg" and Tom Delay start throwing tomatoes at our guy, you KNOW we're on the right track! A badge of honor, I say. Go Howard, Go!

Timbo was on repub attack dog mode yesterday - not that i mind - the more dean deals with these early on, the more practice he gets dealing with them. i heard the show first and then watched in the evening. and listening to it the second time - timbo's questions were pretty pathetic. how come timbo essentially ignored dean's comments about nk. how come timbo never treats repubs the same way - asking the sam q over and over again like he did with dean and iraq. then there was the litmus test question - huh? -like timbo truly doesn't think the repubs don't have a litmus test. both sides use a litmus test and there's not a whole lot you can do about it except vote for your side. even so, i thought dean's answer was shrewd. then, there was the social sec. question - gee, dean's previous quote said to up the social security age and it has gone up but timbo has to hit him on the exact age that he want's it to be increased to and that he was dishonest about being for the increase in age. in these days of clinton's what's it and wha't was and bush's 'the dog ate my sec returns' poor dean can't get away with a technical truth. funny how timbo didn't get around to dean's gun stands. heck, that may actually attract indies to dean. tip oneill's got to be spinning in his grave watching timbo.

Funny how I am a wing nut, a drone, a troll. One point is proven here, you are all (liberals) bunch of cowards. At least I used my real name not afraid to express my view point. That's one of the many differences between conservatives and liberals. If you all want to name call use your real name. Typical liberal BS... complain and redistribute wealth to the undeserving!!!!! Don't bother replying to this. I will not be returning to this site. Thank God for Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Micheal Savage, Niell Bortz, Bill O'rielly and many, many more conservatives and libertarians that allow me to keep my sanity!

Bye Greg. Don't let the door hit you.

Bbbutt(sputter, sputter) Greg, Rush says the media is sooo librul.

And Greggy - have you forgotten - Clinton the murderer, Clinton the red commie pinko socialist pig, Chelsea Clinton - the "dog" at the WH, Chelsea Clinton - the dtr of Janet Reno and HRC, Janeane Garofalo - the traitor, Al Gore the red chinese pinko commie, David Souter -the gay SC justice,Adam Clymer the major league asshole.....those are all from your non-name calling conservative buddies.

Too bad that Greg left us. I was about to turn his name over to a Marine Corps buddy who's having a little trouble meeting his quota this month.

This interview is very reassuring. It shows that Dean is one of the few individuals who is capable of explaining, clearly and rationally, good reasons for having opposed the Iraq war. The only thing missing was compassion for the thousands of Iraqis killed, but I guess that would be "soppy" for a Presidential candidate. (If we had killed a few thousand Canadians, would we feel as good about it?)

And the way he endured Russert's inane hard-headed harping on one theme was superb. I would have blown up, and blown it.

Hugh
