what a nice guy he is!

Heh. That's awesome.

I'm proud to be on his bandwagon!

You know you're hooked up with a good candidate when he surfs his own war room website and actually comments in the threads...

Out of curiosity, I checked the Meet-up progress of all Democratic primary candidates, and here's the tally of volunteer sign-ups:
Dean-5476; Kerry-579; Edwards-400;
Gephardt-34; Kucinich-21; Gore-330;
Lieberman-24; Sharpton-6; M-B-3
Pretty exciting!!! I am sending in my first $10.01 installment tonight.

Very cool.

Ok, I'm a bit confused and hope someone can help me. I've budgeted 500 bucks I want to give to Dean this year (I've been unemployed since Oct and just quit unemployment to start up as a freelancer/self employed person so I'm going to be cash strapped for awhile but THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME). However, I'm a bit confused about the campaign finance laws. Would only 250 of that get matched (giving him 750) or would nothing because its over 250? Or should I give him 250 now and 250 later to give him 1000 total? How do I get the maximum amount out of my donation? Thanks!

Ok, just read the post below and as I understand it, if I donate 250 twice, I'm really getting 1000 to my main man, H Dean. Please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks.

last robot, if your finances are shaky, I would recommend you donate a much smaller amount. There's no sense in taking inordinate risks in this tough economic environment. You can contribute to the campaign in other ways.

Yes, lastrobot, I agree with Paul. You have got to look out for yourself. Perhaps it would help your budget to donate smaller amounts, like $25 dollars here and there. Regardless, as long as it's under $250, it'll be fully matched. Thanks so much for supporting our candidate!

Actually, I don't think that the second $250 contribution would be doubled, just the first.

lav, it is indeed doubled according to the literature i've received from the campaign.

here's an example. if you donate $500, only the first $250 is matched. is the same person donates another $250, that is matched. they can continue to do that (in amounts of $250 or less) and get it matched until the individual's donations total $2000.

i hope that helps. i don't do a very good job of explaining this stuff sometimes.

last robot - kudos! It is truly admirable that in your current situation (unfortunately, the same as many other Americans, under The Shrub's oppression), you are willing to contribute a significant amount of cash to a cause that you believe in. Bravo!

Make no mistake, Howard Dean IS the right choice for this country, in fact, I dare say - the only choice. Let's all do our darndest to spread the word about this man, since the mainstream media is lock-step with The Shrub, and obviously aren't going to do it.

If you have a wife/husband, I think you can contribute as a couple. Why don't you call the office in Vermont. They'll help you out.

First let me say that whatever you plan on contributing to Howard Dean's campaign -- it is important to the campaign that you do so (if you can) prior to the FEC Filing deadline of March 31st. The first (and only the first) $250 will be matched. Anything over $250 will not be matched -- but would make a big difference to the campaign. I continue to be moved by the energy, committment we are seeing everyday from the netroots -- and the posts from people who are out of work -- yet still are willing to make a further committment of contributing financially to our cause. Howard reads these posts when he can (its tough sometimes on the road) -- or we send him a batch of them. We are understaffed vs the rest of the field -- and we won't get everything right -- but we owe a debt of gratitude to each of you. Please do what you can by March 31st.

Thank you
Joe Trippi
Dean Campaign Director
