I wanna know, what exactly is his plan with the vouchers and the tax credits to cover the 24-65 block of the uninsured?

I also think he should stop talking about how he wants the confederate flag people to vote democratic because they don't have health insurance either. That makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

I live in Virginia and I must say that Dean's statement about wanting people with Confederate Flags on their trucks to vote Democratic because their kids don't have health insurance either, and their kids need good schools, is wonderful.

I remember that on Meet the Press Governor Dean was asked "But if you had a constitutional amendment to balance the budget, where would you cut? Where would you find $400 billion?" I would like to know if Governor Dean has any proposals to cut spending as a way to help him balance the budget. What does Governor Dean think of, for example, devolution of the Department of Transportation to the states? Or replacing HUD with a set of tax credits or vouchers? The area of cutting government spending is something I would like to hear Governor Dean address.

I've heard relatively little from Governor Dean about how he would tie human rights advocacy into his foreign policy (particularly his National Security Strategy). The Bushite Strategy (a PNAC creation) is filled with human rights rhetoric, but it's driven by neophyte ideology. Moreover, the PRACTICE of human rights in this administration runs counter to every committment in the paper. How would Dean infuse human rights as a PRAGMATIST?

If other participants know of Dean statements referencing human rights, would you mind posting them? Thanks

1) I want to know just how serious the Governor would be in being the president that will finally set this country on a course to true energy independance, at least from middle eastern oil, for as we all know, if it were not for that dependance our relationships in that part of the world would be quite different. To me its the most fundamental of our national security concerns.
2) How will the Governor address the long list of executive orders and regulatory changes that Bush has enacted, cutting Congress out of the loop, that have gutted the Clean Air/Water Act, the Roadless Policy enacted by Clinton, New Source Review, the Endangered Species Act, etc., etc., etc.

there's an issue that's been nagging at me for a few weeks which i'd like to see dean address.
what was the deal with the abernaki indians? how can he say he's for "equal rights for all americans" when he allegedly worked to deny legal recognition for that native american tribe in vermont? i saw something about this on a blog a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to find out more information. basically i've come up empty. i want to see him address this issue before the repugs make a big deal out of it.
and i don't want a splitting hairs answer. i want the bottom line, because i think this might shoot a huge whole in his defense of civil unions (esp. if he's going to phrase it as an equal rights issue).

They typo thing is for all blogspot sites. Just try it with Atrios's site.

Also, remember if you go to a house party on March 28th, Dean will be having some sort of confernce call and you'll be able to ask him questions directly!

Try to find one (or start one) in your area.

And DeanBloggers -- I think you should start a list of house parties on that date.

Dean wants to pay for his agenda/proposals, e.g. health care, via rolling back Bush's tax cut. What is his anlysis of the odds of being able to push this through congress, and what is the backup plan if this is not possible?

Anna (et al.),

As far as I can recall the Abenaki issue - as with many Native American issues - stemmed from not only wanting recognition, which I think many would be happy to give, but what went along with it. I've been away from Vermont for some time now, but if memory serves there have been two major issues: 1) Abenaki/Iroquois burial grounds and rights associated with the hydro-Quebec project (it flooded some grounds) - but there's your renewable energy sources that makes Vermont 1/3 clean energy, right? (although, of course some would argue that hydro is truly renewable b/c of issues with fish)... and 2) Tribal recognition, which also dealt significantly with land rights. Granting recognition would have likely put into question a significant portion of other Vermonters' land rights... a tough call.

At any rate, these issues are inextricably linked, and quite thorny. From a human rights perspective, I think Dean has worked with the Abenaki, and in particular with local leader Homer St. Francis, the recognized Chief (before he died) with great respect, and always a fair hearing. The larger issue is who's rights prevail, and when, and at what cost?

Again, I have no idea what the Governor's position on this is today, but that's a little of the very complicated background on the issue. I do not thing there is much fodder here for the Republicans.

Best, Christopher

If this is the place to post questions to Dr. Dean why are other people answering them?

anyway, here's mine:

Seeing as you are a medical doctor, and potentially the first MD to hold the office of the president, how are you positioned on the influence of religion, science and philosophy on the office and the roles each of these disciplines have in your personal method of governing?

In the wake of the Columbia disaster, many have focused on what the role of human spaceflight should be -- whether the space program should continue focusing on low Earth orbit, whether it should regroup and focus instead on sending people back to the Moon and/or on to Mars, or whether it should be abandoned. I'd like to know what Dr. Dean's opinion on the space program is.

Cheers,
Bob Kopp

"What is his anlysis of the odds of being able to push this through congress,"

It would depend on the 2004 congressional elections, right?

Dean is right: For a two-state solution in Israel-Palestine to work, the terrorism does need to stop. But for that to happen settlement-building and the continual abuse of the Palestinian people by the Israeli military will have to stop first. Does he realize this and would President Dean use the great leverage the U.S. clearly posesses in Israel to make it happen?

Hi All,

This is a fan website. I find it hard to believe that Dean has the time to personally address all these queries (and he shouldn't be spending time surfing the web - he should be out fundraising and meeting voters).

One of the roles that a good volunteer base can play is to help do research, and based on Dean's record help fill in the blanks for those who need more information. Hence the responses from those of us who either are researching his positions, or know him from past experience.

All these queries are valid, but remember that most of the other candidates are worse on these issues, or have not answered them at all, and that Dean is never going to be able to wade through the thousands of email questions he gets on myriad issues.

Best, Christopher

1) Would the Governor call for a full and, more importantly, independant investigation into events leading to the 9/11 attacks? Why does he think it's taken so long to get the current investigation off the ground?

2) What is the Governor's stance on the use of electronic voting machines and the loophole the provide for massive vote fraud?

Thanks,

Dave

Recognition of tribes does not do a lot, in my understanding, in terms of land taxation or water rights, unless a reservation is given to the tribe. I don't know the situation in Vermont, though, so I can't really comment on what happened there.

Will you lift the partial birth abortion ban recently passed through the Senate and sure to be signed by the President?

1.) What do you think should be done about the AIDS crisis in Africa.

2.) Would you commit US forces to combat against genocidal regiemes if the situation arises? If yes, with or without UN support?

3.) Do you believe China should have preferred-nation trade status?

What is his stance on medical malpractice caps? As a physician I would be curious what he thinks is best for the country?

My question is: Why isn't there a way to send him a message on his website?
It's important that he be open to the comments of those who are ready to support his candidacy. I want to tell him that he should not back off his opposition to Bush's War when it starts. Every other Democratic personage who lusts after the nomination will "make nice" with Bush. Howard Dean will make his mark by having the guts to denounce the Imperial War. Oh, by the way, I sent a contribution 2 weeks ago.

If you click on the 'contact' link, on the left under Resources, there's an email address for general inquiries. You could probably use that.

What is your stance on the death penalty, and as president, how would you deal with capital punishment cases on a Federal level?

Also, do you think that states should have the right to prosecute capital punishment cases, even if the a the Justice Department chooses not to?

Governor Dean,

I am a public school teacher who is worried about the current movement towards "standardized" testing. I have admired what Vermont had done regarding testing.

Please explain to the rest of the nation, how under your Presidency we will continue to have standards, but without "standardized minds".

Actually, it looks like you get that same site if you type in anything ending in "blogpsot.com." So they're parasitic on all of blogspot, not the Dean blog in particular.

What happened to all the old questions and comments? Stupid HaloScan.

I said the same thing as Stentor, before they were lost.

Looks like the questions were lost so...

1.) Should China have preferred trade status?
2.) What do you think should be done about the AIDS crisis in Africa, and other nations.
3.) Would you use our military to stop genocide in another country which the US has no immediate interest in, even if the US had to act alone?
4.) What are your feelings on the Digital Millenium Copyright Act?

Dr. Dean, you have stated that Israeli/Palestinian peace negotiations should not begin until Palestine has "stopped the terror." Would you likewise consider using financial and/or political pressures to encourage Israel to stop using tactics which routinely result in the deaths of innocent Palestinian women and children?

A similar question to the one above, without the rancor: Can you explain your perspective on the "shared sacrifices" that must be made by both the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority? You clearly believe, as do most, that terrorism by Palestinian supporters must stop before fruitful negotiations can occur. What is your position regarding the growing number of Israeli settlements, in defiance of previous negotiations and mandates? Thanks.

I apologise to everyone for the loss of the old comments. Maybe they will be back on Monday. Until rthen, feel free to rep[ost your questions...

Dr. Dean, how do you feel about the current minimum wage? If you did choose to raise it, by how much would you raise it?

My question is blunt, but so is Dean. I don't think (I hope) we don't need to sugar coat things for him. I want to know where he stands on the Israeli army using tactics that kill Palestinian civilians. That's different than where he stands on settlements.

Here's an issue I'd like to hear more about:

We are familiar with your stated position on gun control -- that you support the Brady bill, the ban of assault weapons, and closing the gun show loophole -- and beyond that you view it predominantly a state-level issue.

I take it that the NRA was a strong supporter of land conservation efforts you were involved with in Vermont. The recent article in The Nation makes it sound like, perhaps as result, that you wouldn't say a disparaging word about the NRA even if you took issue with any of their stances or activities. I can't believe that that is the case given your outspoken nature. What is your stated position about the NRA organization and its tactics? What can we expect your relationship with the NRA to be like if you succeed in being elected president? How might you proactively support state deliberation around gun control issues (given your preferred approach)?

For many of us, it is impossible to view the NRA organization as a pro-social organization in any overall sense. (For example, a number of my friends and colleagues were quite disturbed by the NRA tactics depicted and described in the recent _Bowling for Columbine_ documentary.)

Hello,

As a concerned student in the University of California, and for all students in the US, how are you going to make College accessible to all of those that qualify?

Howard Dean is an advocate of universal health care. Is he also an advocate of detaching health care coverage from the employer? Doesn't changing health plans with employers generate excess cost?

Dr. Dean, do you support the legalization of industrial hemp?

Two unrelated questions for Dr. Dean:

1) What is your view for the future of the human spaceflight program?

2) Are you familiar with Sen. Hart's views on revitalizing local democracy, as described in his recent book "Restoring the Republic"? If so, what do you think of them?

Bob Kopp

Mr Dean should comment long and loud on Voting Machines, and recent fraud allegations charges, one best compendium at http://blackboxvoting.com

I voted for Mr Dean twice, and now reside in NH, he would know "what valley" to look in.

Our former, Multiple term Democratic Governer; Jeanne Shaeen, lost by 18,817 to John E Sununu, in a state where about half of the precincts used the OpTech III-P Eagle optical-scan unit from Election Systems & Software Inc. of Omaha, Neb. The rest used the AccuVote ES2000 optical-scanning system from Global Election Systems Inc. of McKinney, Texas.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/ uslate...2386093,00.html

I think I would like Mr Dean to comment on voting in America, and how it relates to his campaign, and the direction in the US Congress.

Would you support changes in the Medicaid program that would enable more people with disabilities and senior citizens to live at home with home care, instead of being forced into nursing homes and other institutional settings?

Are you willing to publicly discuss any Israeli misuse of power or disregard for international law? All of your published statements so far have been critical only of Palestinians, as if this were not a two-sided conflict. Clearly Israel has a right to defend herself and her survival must be guaranteed, but wouldn't you agree that the current Israeli policy of irresponsible violence counter-productive?

Dr. Dean, what is your position on the death penalty in America?

I hope you continue to be outspoken and aggressive and look smart because that image is what it will take to imprint on peoples minds. I hope the Democratic party takes a tip from the Republicans and annoints you President before the convention or election. They were so slick about it, we just have to compete like that. You are well-informed about a lot of things. Please, after this atrocious military invasion, we need you to stand up for real democracy.

In Vermont, you wisely supported "instant runoff voting," a simple reform to the United States electoral system. Given a crowded Democratic field, I think you could pick up several votes if you suggested the measure in a public debate. Why not give it a try?

Yoni: Read Dean's Linn County Iowa speech. He suggests campaign finance reform, a court which will uphold it, and instant runnoff voting as the way to reform American politics.

That's when Dean 100% sold me.

what is your stance on the economy? WHat will you do that is different from the others about how bad it is.

Your message already resonates on the coasts and among the Rockefeller Republicans.

I want you in the White House: what will be the linchpin of your message to sway the red states in "flyover country"?

BTW: Many of the questions being asked here -- partial birth, energy, environment -- are discussed in the "On The Issues" section of tthe Dean For America home page:

http://www.deanforamerica.com/de...out&page=issues

Hey everyone,

Can someone help out wit this effort - and send me a summary of tehse questions via email? also filtered by those that are already answered on Dean's Issues page? I really could use the help in getting the feature going to th enext step.

Mr. Dean has rightly stated that Bush's policy of defecit spending to support tax cuts is fiscal insanity. I wonder if besides rolling back the cuts, he would advocate increasing taxes on the wealthy to help reduce the defecit or pump up neglected programs. (Say those making over 350,000 --a figure he mentioned -- or another figure as a starting point).

Dr Dean, given that a campaign spending war against the Bush campaign is a losing proposition and assuming that a Democratic candidate for president should not try to focus all his or her efforts on such a proposition, I would like to know more about your approach to financing your campaign and whether you are prepared to use unconventional methods to promote your candidacy and invigorate the electorate.

Where does he stand on labeling Genetically Engineered Foods?

1- You have said that as President one of your priorities would be balancing the budget. Repealing President Bush's Tax Cut has been the most mentioned way of balancing the budget, but do you have other ideas on how to cut spending to reduce the deficit?

2- How do you feel about the Democratic Party's current program of ignoring the rural areas of America? Will you campaign reach out to voters in rural America and offer them an agenda in order to have the Democratic Party compete in the countryside once again? In other words, what is your campaign's position on the future of rural America?

How would the Dean campaign, and perhaps later a Dean administration, help to combat the growing conservative control over the media and the demise of regulation over the media? Would a Dean administration try to bring back some of the regulations that limit how much of the media corporations can own, and therefore influence?

why is web page www.deanforamerica.com not working? i want to donate before march 31!!! are the repubs screwing it up?
please fix!!!

what/how will you deal with damage bush has done in iraq, etc?

I praise your criticism of Democrats that fall prey of Bush and voted in support of the war in Iraq....you are right about your comments against John Kerry...they are acting like Republicans instead of Democrats...

You will win the primary and the White House if you continue with you approach of criticism of the illegal war that BUsh started in Iraq...don't forget about Bush isolationg the US from the world and possibly pushing us into a World War where the US will be in the receiving end...I fully support and if continue to against the war you have my vote!!!!! go!!!

Well I was about to forward this around (OPINION | Open Forum
by Governor Howard Dean
deanforamerica.com/standup
March 27, 2003)
to everyone, until I saw Dean's comments on foreign policy!!! So he is an idiot after all! Looks like there aren't any democrats with balls anymore, or woth compassion for those not lucky enough to live in a nation based on liberty, freedom, & justice! For the 1st time ever I may have to vote for a non-Democrat for President!

I am a DEMOCRAT and a LIBERAL and GAY and I support the liberation of Iraq and a national homeland for the KURDS!

I may not support President Bush, nor the Republicans, but I do support what is just and what is right! On foreign policy and dealing with SADDAM and terrorism my DEMOCRAT PARTY has got it all wrong and looks like they are not going to change, seems they are happy with the status quo of being for so-called human rights without actually being for HUMANS!

governor dean, this week you stated that now that our forces are at war against iraq we should finish the job. this echoes senator kerry's statement to me in a recent e-mail that "now that we are there, victory is the only acceptable exit strategy." i ask you the same questions i asked him: was victory the only acceptable exit strategy in vietnam? aren't these two conflicts alike in that they are both illegal and immoral aggressions that violate international law and our own american values? shouldn't our "exit strategy" be the same as we came to acknowledge in vietnam: to admit our mistake and withdraw our forces as soon as possible? how can a war be wrong before it starts, but right after it has begun? these questions beg answering by all of the democratic candidates.

the liberal left wing of the demo party will not vote for anyone who condones imperialistic military adventurism...and without us, the demo party cannot win national office (re: 196. i would appreciate your personal response to these questions. they will be asked more and more as this war becomes more and more atrocious.

A great Clinton quote for Dean to use:

"There is nothing wrong in America that can’t be fixed with what is right in America." - Bill Clinton

In order to deflect the inevitable attacks of anti-Americanism (regardless of their baselessness), I do hope you and your communications team are formulating a positive message.

Basing your speeches around attack lines and policy proposals is not enough; you need positive themes; a story about your positions and a positive story about what kind of country the U.S. is and can be.

Your use of the Internet has far outdistanced the other candidates (i.e., with MeetUps and Blogging), and in doing so you have undoubtedly reached younger, often apathetic, voters. To what extent will you be using conventional - yet sometimes ignored by other candidates - media to reach this same voting block (e.g., appearing on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, MTV, Black Entertainment Television). Also, will you be adding college speaking events in the future (and, with that, appearances at NASCAR/Winston Cup events to bring in the Southern voter?)

Dr Dean,

speaking as a medical professional, what is your opinion on Senate Maj. Leader (Dr.) Frist 's proposals to modify the National Vacinne Injury Compensation Program?

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/qu...8sHs1D6:e96447:

I'm a fan of Howard Dean and I think he can capture the nomination and the presidency. However, I won't vote for him in the primary if he trashes John Kerry, because getting Bush out is the objective. Please keep your eye on the prize: getting rid of Bush. The country and history will love you for it even if you don't get the nomination.

Mr. Dean. If you happened to be Prez after Sept. 11, would you have taken different measures or sanctions against any country. Would you be tougher on Saudi Arabia? In our current situation, would you wage war against Iraq? Do you feel that France was merely exercising its sovereign right not to join the military incursion? Do you believe that war is never a response?

Everything I've heard from Dr. Howard Dean makes perfect sense. While I agree with the statements, I would de-emphasize certain topics for certain crowds. For example- I wouldn't bring up the topic of affirmative action to a crowd that is more interested in
a balanced budget, international diplomacy, health care, and American freedoms taken by the current regime. Don't run from a specific opinion, but don't bring it up in certain regions. If asked a question regarding that subject, then answer it, but don't bring it up. Sincerity and intelligence can go a long way.

The one topic I would like addressed in stonger terms is the problem with foreign oil depency and the imporance of renewable energy sources.

You do speak for many of us that are disgusted with the state of the government. Your honesty is refreshing. Keep it coming!

At present, it's all about the war, but in the end it will be domestic issues that turn this election in 2004 and we need to start to hear more from Dr. Dean about his responses and solutions to 1.) the economy and huge job losses 2.) the environment 3.) alternative sources of energy and federal R&D involvement 4.) responses to the CRISIS in nursing (my profession) and teaching 5.)AFFORDABLE health insurance and a most timely issue (to be determined next week) 6.) the deregulation of FCC ownership retrictions. (Control of the media-now THAT is something to lose sleep over.
I support the Dean campaign with my time and money, but I believe that it's about the economy and domestic issues; and it always will be.

Since this is a long one, a quick summary: I want to know your position on campaign funding, and how it will affect the way you run your campaign.

Mr. Dean, first, I'd just like to say that I think that what I've seen of your positions and the way you speak about the issues makes you the perfect rejoinder to all the belittling republican rhetoric that I feel like I'm drowning in. As long as your stance continues to be as sensible as your language, I'll be behind you 100%.

However, I think that in light of the work of people like Senator McCain trying to combat the current state of campaign financing, it is clear that at some point in this election year big business money will start to play a major role in making or breaking candidacies. While I'm certainly interested in your stance on campaign finance reform, I'm much more interested in what sort of financial foundation your campaign will be built on. One crowbar Ralph Nader used to break Al Gore's presidential bid was his claim that Gore was just as much of a corporate candidate as Bush; if you also become beholden to business money, your bid for the presidency could die a similar death. If this is not the case, however, you run a very real danger of simply being outspent.

Your candidacy seems to be one primarily of ideas. Well, what sort of ideas do you have with regard to big business money in politics? Do you believe that you would be able to attract this money without giving business interests more of a say than the interests of your grassroots volunteers? Or do you believe that alternative methods may be used to provide a financial backing sufficiently large to take you all the way to the Oval Office?

I hope that my question is not too long, so here's hoping you manage to get to answering it! This is a time of great change, and therefore a ripe time for new ideas (and old ideas that have fallen out of style). I sincerely hope that you're the man to bring those ideas to the American people, and give them back a rejuvenated Democratic Party that is as condescending as it is timid - except without all that timidity!

Now that the war on Iraq has begun, the next President of the Uited States will have to contend with the task of bringing it to a successful conclusion.

I agree with you that this was the wrong war at the wrong time. Sadly the hawks succeeded in starting the
war.

Two questions:

1. How would your administration propose to bring the war to a successful conclusion?

2. How will you convince those Americans who may think that it would be better for Bush to finish the war he started that it would in fact be better for America to elect a new Presdent to take the country forward to a better place in every way - including finishing the war in Iraq?

Mr. Dean, what can you do to counteract Bush's popularity to a gullible public that does not see what we Americans had to sacrifice so much for this new world order plan?

Dr Dean, my question is:

If you were to become President in 2004, what would you do to resurrect US relations with the European Union, particularly with France and German?

We haven't just seen a falling-out between the American government and the governments of France and Germany, but a growing hatred between the American people and the citizens of those two countries. There are boycotts of French and German goods in America and of American goods in Europe, and increasing "grass-roots" movements on both sides of the Atlantic that seem based around hatred of respective peoples.

What can be done to solve this? What can be done to heal the wounds at every level? Or is the situation acceptable?

In your opinion, is Britain still a viable go-between for the USA and the EU, or is the current British government (which is unlikely to change in 2005 - and if it does, it will move further to the right) too closely tied to the Bush administration?

I've been trying to get answers to these questions for weeks now:

Governor Dean, everyone knows you support civil unions, but do you support federal anti-discrimination protections in employment, housing, and government and social services, for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people?

Specifically, will you fight for the civil rights of transgender people as well as those of gays and lesbians?

Governor, if you say it, I'll believe it, but I need to hear you say it: That the civil rights of transgender people are just as important, just as urgent, and just as worthy of protection as those of gays, lesbians, and every other American citizen.

Please?

Thank you.

Becky Juro

I was dismayed to discover that Dr. Dean allowed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the country's most powerful right-wing
lobby, to pay for and completely control his one and only "fact-finding" mission to Israel. This is an organization that opposes the Roadmap For Peace because, among other things, it calls for an end to
settlement expansion as part of stage 1 negotiations - that's EXPANSION, mind you, and not dismantling.
Since then, Howard Dean has openly stated that his views on Israel are "in line with AIPAC's". If so, then there are several issues that need to be addressed. 1) How does Dr. Dean reconcile his support for multilateralism with his unflinching support for a nation that is in violation of at least 65 UN resolutions (that's 46 more than Iraq, and doesn't include the 21 that the US vetoed) 2) How does Dr. Dean reconcile his stand on tying foreign aid to human rights with his support for a record $10 billion aid package to Israel, given the fact that most of those 65 UN resolutions pertain to human rights violations? And 3) How does Dr. Dean reconcile his antiwar stance with his support for an organization (AIPAC) which is not only wildly supportive of the war with Iraq, but is pressing the president to act on Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Libya as well?
For more on this issue, please read the following articles on Dr. Dean's trip, AIPAC, and Israel's UN violations:

Sorry, just reread my previous post, and found a rather Freudian slip :o) Substitute "widely supportive" for "wildly supportive" in 3rd line from the bottom - I'll defer to their stated aims...

Paul from greater MN had the following question from our 3/28 house party, which I haven’t been able to find an answer. He wanted to ask about Dean’s farm policy stand, “I feel the current policy encourages over-production rather than the successful policies of the late 70s and early 80s that rewarded taking marginal land out of production.....anyway, out here that is probably one of the biggest issues, so I would like to know what to say to that.” Any ideas on a response? Thanks.

I am curious what Dean's stance on the Israeli-Palestine conflict is. Would he support a Palestine state? Does he have a plan or a concept for how to attain peace in this volatile region?

Also, would Dean support the resolution Syria will propose to the UN requiring all nations of the Middle East to destroy their weapons of mass destruction?

Can you return control of the electronic press to the moderates again? The news outlets seem to be under control of the conservative movement. We are becoming a fascist government, albeit the motives being to preserve Israel. Still, I hope you would not have invaded Iraq in the guise of liberation, and calling upon the "irrelevant" U.N. to end embargoes so your friends can sell oil that does not belong to the U.S.

My questions for Dean.

1. As President of the USA, what will you do for the GLBT community in securing equal rights on the federal level?

2. Millions of inner-city kids in the USA live in poverty as well as malnutrioned homes every day. What will you do decrease these horrible numbers as President?

3. Israel is rumored to have Nuclear Weapons, however, they won't admit to having them. What steps will you take to make sure Israel fully disarms its nuclear weapons and other Weapons of Mass Destruction?

4. Israeli military killed Rachel Corrie, a United States citizen promoting peace in the Mid-East region in March 2003. In April they shot two more peace-workers in the head, one from Britain and another American. To restate the key point of this question, they were all UNARMED peace workers properly identified in BRIGHT ORANGE jackets. What will you tell Israeli officials on the conduct of their soldiers commiting these 3 brutal acts on civilians in Palestinian controlled territory(West Bank and Gaza)?

5. Currently wind generates less than 1% of the USA's energy, as opposed to 15% currently in Denmark. By 2020 Denmark (albeit a small country) plans to power 50% of the country by wind alone! America is being left behind in the dust of many European nations when it comes to non-nuclear means of energy. What will be your agenda as President to promote a cleaner and reusable means of energy throughout the nation? A push for federal tax cuts to those who choose to buy wind turbines?

6. Last question I promise! The School of Americas trains "terrorists" for many latin America nationes. We're a nation wanting to fight terrorism, shouldn't we end it at home first by closing down the camp? 60,000 terrorists have been trained there...isn't it time we promote peace throughout the world and not more war with our training of these men? We you formally ask congress to close the camp down for good and making the world a safer place?

Thank you Howard Dean for answering any or all of my questions. John in MN.

"Israel is rumored to have Nuclear Weapons, however, they won't admit to having them. What steps will you take to make sure Israel fully disarms its nuclear weapons and other Weapons of Mass Destruction?"

Not true. Israel acknowledges their nuclear capabilities -- capabilities the US provided.

But I digress....

1. Bob Dornan said on MSNBC's Hardball: "And besides, we all agree [that the democratic candidates are] for abortions but you’re the only one that’s actually performed them. Dean is finished. But none of them will bring them out. He’s actually performed abortions." True or not, how do you plan to respond to these sorts charges and spin?

2. Malpractice caps: Are you for them? If so, can the Dean campaign afford to anger the trial lawyers in the Democratic Party and still get the nomination? If not, what do you think the right answer is to deal with the very real issue facing MDs without making the debate so combative?

I'm with ya' all the way, Governor!

Would Howard Dean delegate a taskforce to throughly examine the areas of the Bush Administration that pushed the country from a surplus, to $300 Billion plus Debt?

Specifically would they look at the $87 Billion for restocking of supplies, and investigating the fact that there were already ONE BILLION cluster bombs in storage when that request was made? Another area is Dick Cheney's "Energy Task Force" and the fact that gasoline prices have jumped from $1.37 cents a gallon to $1.65 a gallon since the Iraqi war started?

Would a President Dean be strong enough to have those that broke. or skirted the law, and misused tax dollars, be prosecuted for their crimes irregardless of their offical capacity?

Based on findings of Human Rights groups, would a President Dean allow the IJC to prosecute former American officials for War Crimes?

Please post these answers to a general blog response page as I am using a work related computer and cannot get non work emails.

Thank you,

Maureen
