Mr Scalzi himself seems like he's trying to find something to do online besides fight. But he wrote something funny here that wound up in Portland's WW:

I hate your politics. Whether you're libertarian, conservative or--ugh--liberal, you suck. Here's why.

Also, the article directly above, deals with Portland metro, and there are a couple of good hard hitting comments at the bottom. Portland gives you the best chance out of any city in the US, of getting back a smile and hello that you give away. You like driving cars? Live in Dallas.
