The Democrats got all the right candidates for takeovers in the US House. Hutchinson over Nussle, Sumers over Garrett, John Smith over Pearce, Turnham over Riley. Each of those look like leans toward the Democratic candidate.
Democratic voters are much more pragmatic in their primary choices, while the GOP continues to vote on principle. Hutchinson and Sumers were both Republicans just a few months ago, John Smith is a conservative Democrat, as is Turnham.

If this is how it pans out, and Gephardt uses it to springboard toward the 2004 nomination, it's unlikely that these new Dems are going to be supporting the liberal Pelosi, which will set up an interesting Speaker's race for the Democrats, I think Frost might emerge as the favorite.

What about in NM 1st and 2nd. This is one place where there could be coattails...a Richardson romp (over 60%) could carry the Dems in both the District, although not in the Senate race.

Again, wishful thinking. Romero is hurting against Wilson. You haven't seen the polls aparntly...Romero has baggage. Watch Dick. Watch Dick run. Watch as Dick's opposition to Flag Amendment gets beat over his head in the post 9-11 patriotic fervor.

May be CV. But, watch Richardson coattails. If he wins over 60% Wilson is in trouble. Otherwise, Wilson sins.

The only poll on that race was a push-opinion poll put out by a RNC rag, it must have worked for CV. Wilson has never gotten more than 49%, and the Greens are this time backing Romero. Richardson will help Romero, I don't even think it takes him a 60% win, a double-digit win would do it.
