06/07/2002 Archived Entry: "Bush at 70 now, polling graphs"
New Gallup numbers, ~62 will be the key as far as support goes. A 70 percent approval rating is not all that great. Clinton for most of the last few years he was President, hovered in this range. The 7 percent drop is pretty sharp, showing up totally with Democrats and Independents. Bush maintains a 96 percent approval amongst Republicans. With numbers that high on the partisan side, his overall total will remain in the mid to high 60's.

Next is a top-notch polling site, which I found linked from a poster's blog-link I found from a special thread I try and follow on Salon...
The website is called PROFESSOR POLLKATZ's POOL OF POLLS, complete with an image of Picasso's Guernica. It's quite a site, very well done.

I am very heartened by his sudden drop in the Gallup poll. I wonder if that is why he did the national address regarding the new Dept of Homeland Security. I thought we already had a security department namely the Dept of Defense.
I can't wait until he drops into the 60's. I think people are slowly beginningto see him for what he is...an incompetent figurehead President whose deception make Clinton look like a saint.

Hi Ced, an interesting thing about the poll is the drop registers with Indies and Dems, but not with Republicans. http://www.gallup.com/images/Poll/Releases/pr020607bii.gif
Prior to Sept 11th, all moved somewhat in sync, but afterwards, it's as if the Republicans are in a trance, straight-lining. The Indies moving with the Dems is a very good sign for the Dems.
Yes, without a doubt, the latest moves toward capitulation is a reaction to the turn of events. This WH spends more on polling than Clinton's team ever did, they are usually a step ahead in terms of damage control.
