Sure, Reno still is up 2-1: Favored among 53 percent of Democrats surveyed June 7-11, compared to 25 percent for McBride. But six months ago Reno was up 4-1. 2:1 is not going to last much longer for Reno. Peterson to endorse McBride over Reno, and McBride is already focused on Jeb, Bush, McBride air education differences. "I've sized him up," McBride drawls, "and I can take him."

Reno should get out. She'll never win this race and a win against Jeb "purge-the-voters-to-get-my-stupid-brother-elected" Bush is sorely needed.

I agree. Reno can't win this against Jeb, not in the hillbilly redneck areas of Florida nor in the insane Cuban parts of Southern Florida, she is hated too much in both places. If she wins the primary Jeb will stomp her, if McBride wins the primary, it will be down to the wire. Reno should back out now and throw her support to McBride.

I think Jeb would win...a bright spot on an otherwise disastrous November 5 night for the GOP, at least as far as the Governor's races are concerned. And the GOP would take Texas and New York too! But, from top to botton, the GOP would get wiped out in Illinois, New Mexico, Maine and may be even Oregon, and would loose Michigan, Wisconsisn and most likely Pennsylvania.

I agree with the assessment. Even without Elian and some of that other baggage, Janet's health is a question here. McBride is healthier and less of a lightning rod for fanatics. I believe he may be a stronger campaigner too.
Jeb wants to run an "issue-free" campaign full of Waco and Elian and Washington doings. If McBride wins the primary, Jeb will be forced to fight on a battlefield he can't win: his record as Governor. Furthermore, he will not get the oodles of outside support from the crazies that running against Janet would get.

I firmly beleive that McBride will be the nominee. People should remember that primary electorates can be turned on there heads in a matter of days.
Jeb only polling at 49% against the still not well known McBride is shocking. When Florida Democrats sense that Bush can be beaten this year, they will break heavily towards McBride in the primary.
I also see an upset special brewing in the Tom Feeny district.
