07/12/2002 Archived Entry: "Dean update"

I get e-mails on Dean everyday now. It started with my putting up the Howard Dean for President 2004 website, which alot of folks mistake for the official website. Sometimes, that's made for some constructive criticism:

Some are just short and get to the point:

> The message is good. The display is gray. Brighten it up!

> How about a picture of Gov. Dean on the website?

Some make it a point to be kind-hearted while making a point:

> I am a fan of Howard Dean. I wish him well. In that spirit, I'd like to point
> out that the site is missing some apostrophes. It should be "Dean on the
> nation's Economy" (nation-apostrophe-s), "Dean on the nation's Values," and
> "Dean on the nation's Health." I might also suggest capitalizing "nation" if
> "Economy," "Values," and "Health" are capitalized.
> By the way, please take this in spirit offered; I'm the last person to take
> delight in errors in others' writing since I make so many myself.

And some are just pointed!

> I have long supported the idea of Gov. Dean as a Presidential candidate,
> and now that he's openly expressed his interest, I would like to turn that
> idea into action. So I went to this website for information.
> But the website is just plain awful! Count this as my first contribution
> to what I sincerely hope will be a successful run against Bush: Re-tool your
> website immediately. It's a major, big-time turnoff.

I did correct the errors, no pictures yet, and now have the This is an unofficial website for informational purposes in bold on top, hope that stops the confusion. The WA Post has a nice picture, so maybe I'll put it up.

It's a really good puff piece in the WA Post today by Broder on Dean, thanks to those that sent the link. For '04 Run, a Walk in Carter's Shoes: Gov. Dean Is Unconventional Democrat. Page A01, above the fold or below? Still, in today's CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll, Dean only polls 1%, actually down from 2% in their last poll, and now behind Al Sharpton!
