Bryant keeps gaining on Alexander. A WBIR-TV/SurveyUSA poll in June found Alexander leading 64-25 over Bryant. Then, A Mason-Dixon poll gave Alexander a lead of 17 percentage points over U.S. Rep. Ed Bryant, and the Bryant campaign released its own polling numbers July 3 that showed Mr. Bryant having closed to within 12 percentage points among likely Republican primary voters, with 37 percent to Mr. Alexander's 49 percent.
You would expect the Bryant numbers to be padded somewhat, but the latest SurveyUSA poll finds the Alexander lead to be 18 percent, leading 54 to 36 percent over Bryant, with 9 percent undecided. It's a nasty race in the GOP, No kid gloves for Alexander, Bryant: Slings, arrows flying in GOP Senate race. With two weeks to go, Bryant probably needs to gain another 10% to win it on GOTV efforts, as conservatives are likely to turn out stronger than the moderates who back Alexander, especially given the negative campaigning. With such a small number of undecided voters, Bryant may fall just short. Pinkston Motors probably knows who is going to win.
