So Jeffords is going to SD now, and some Republicans think that he will not be welcome? Per capita, those detractors have no clue what the Senate Majority position means for SD. Jeffords will see plenty of smiles and ovations in South Dakota, especially for that farmer-welfare bill under Daschle. Johnson will campaign with independent Senator Jim Jeffords on Saturday at two events "highlighting education — the issue that drove Jeffords to switch parties." Which, I recall, was the issue that Jeffords told Bush would make him a one-termer. Bush disagreed, perhaps knowing that his failed economic policy would doom him even more.
