An article on the Rowland vs Curry race that's brewing in CT, Operation Rowland, the metaphors are terrific. At 51 to 34 percent, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll, tighter than the last poll which showed Rowland topping Curry 55–27 percent. Also of note in the poll is that President Bush’s approval rating also has dropped from 70 percent to 59 percent.

Some other numbers on the Rowland/Curry race: Rowland's favorability is at just 45, and Curry is polling 34 vs. Rowland even though 60% of the voters don't know enough about him to form an opinion. Curry has yet to air any commercials, and Rowland has bought airtime only sparingly.
Local TV is playing this poll as a tightening race. After Labor Day, watch out-- Rowland's support is soft, and this state has been trending Democrat for the last couple of decades. This race could go to Curry fast if he has enough money to get his message on the airwaves and the economy and stock market continue to slip.
I should add too that turnout in November should be relatively high for a mid-term, given the highly competitive House races in the 2nd and 5th districts.
