This is on another topic -- I heard a about Reno having Elton John performing at a fundraiser. However, few read far enough into the article to see that the event is a week AFTER the primary, therby a loss negates the Elton john help. It could be a great kick off to the general election, but it seems to be an attempt to scare off McBride backers.

McBride is our ONLY hope! Now as for my predictions.

Michigan

Republican---Posthumous wins with 80% of the vote

Democrats---Granholm wins it with 40% of the vote to Boniors 30 and Blanchards 20 something

Michigan
GOP -- Posthumus 85% of vote
Democrats --
Granholm 42,
Bonior 33
Blanchard 25

Rivers 52%
Dingell 48%
I'm predicting an upset here

I do not know how the primaries would turn out..but the prospect of the GOP getting its clock cleaned on November 5 is increasing every day. The only gains the GOP may have is what they got through redistricting.

And not too far away in Illinois, GOP may go the way of their colleagues in California.

The GOP just cannot get privatization of retirement (social security) out of its head...obviously they have not learnt. With enemies like Paul O'Neill, the Democrats do not need too many friends.

"President Bush has called on Congress to ensure that individual Americans can control their own retirement savings (privatizing social security) and make their own investment decisions without undue constraints from employers (invest in stock markets as it goes down). Your retirement nest egg is yours alone -- you earned it, and you should have full legal rights to control it. The Senate is holding up this important legislation, and it is time to end that logjam."

O'Neill (and Bush) fiddles while Wall Street Burns!

Neither a Pit Bull or a Lap Dog. More like the household pet of Elizabeth Smart that let her kidnapper get away.

I don't get the sense that Rivers would be an upset. How bizzare that Tipper Gore would go in and campaign for Dingell, that was stupid.

In Michigan, my predictions are

Republican
Posthumus 75%
Schwartz 25%
Democrat
Granholm 45%
Bonior 30%
Blanchard 25%

Dingell/Rivers
Dingell 52%
Rivers 48%

In Kansas

Shallenburger 40%
Knight 37%
Kerr 21%
Bloom 2%

In other news, I really feel that the US economy is headed for a double dip recession. I feel that the reality of this will doom GOP chances of holding the House or gaining the Senate. If the economic data continues to grow worse over the next 3 months, then I see the Democrats winning the House and increasing their lead in the Senate. The wildcard could be if Dubya pulls and October suprise and invades Iraq just before the election.

KS Governor (R):

Rivers 53 Dingell 46

My guess is that Dingell support will be more passive and won't turn out for him in high enough numbers. AFL-CIO ads will help him but his age - and he's a nasty old man at that - will lead enough voters to say it's time for him to hang it up.

I'll copy all the other consensus picks in races I care very little about just so the score ranking doesn't get all fallacious: Shallenberger and Colyer win in Kansas, Granholm and Posthumous in Michigan.
