08/09/2002 Archived Entry: "Arkansas Gov"
From Rob Moritz of the Arkansas Times Record in LITTLE ROCK via a reader:
Three polls show Gov. Mike Huckabee leading Democratic opponent Jimmie Lou Fisher in the race for governor, but Huckabee appears to have lost the momentum he had just a few short months ago.
A state Democratic Party poll showed Huckabee leading Fisher 40 percent to 37 percent and one conducted by Attorney General Mark Pryor's U.S. Senate campaign gave Huckabee 48 percent to Fisher's 42 percent, polled from 881 registered Arkansas voters. The state Democratic Party poll was conducted by Cooper & Secrest Associates of Alexandria, Va., from June 17-19. The Pryor poll was conducted by Hickman-Brown Research of Washington, D.C., using a sample of 800 people with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. The poll was taken June 11-18.
The Dresner poll surveyed 400 Arkansas voters likely to vote in the Nov. 5 general election and found 61 percent would vote for Huckabee, 29 percent for Fisher and 10 percent undecided. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. The firm conducted the poll of 400 people, June 16-19, for the Huchabee campaign.

Please do not believe anything coming out of Arkansas. Respected independent polling firms have abdicated their responsibility by not polling in a number of senate races. This vacuum has been filled by bogus pollsters ranging from Tarrance Group to Survey USA. Total joke.

Are there any others sites such as this one with Senate breakdowns? I hit this site daily and really enjoy it. Any other ones similar to its format of posts along with links to pol sites?

Yes, go to ABC News. com and go into the news and politics section. However, most of the independent pollsters have abdicated their responsibility, and we have both the Dems and GOP trying to pull fast one on the masses with their distorted polling.

jim: For a comprehensive list of polls in all states try http://www.dcpoliticalreport.com. Click on "current polls." It also tells you if a poll is Repub., Demo., or from an independent source.

Oregonian:
Thanks. However, many still happen to be partisan polling...particularly in Arkansas.
