New York Governor
This is a very interesting contest, with lots of angles of analysis. PW has a link to the recent Quinnipiac polling on the race: Republican Gov. George Pataki holds a 46 – 35 percent lead over State Comptroller H. Carl McCall among New York State likely voters, with 14 percent for Independence Party candidate Thomas Golisano. The poll does not include Cuomo, who will officially remain on the ballot as the Liberal Party candidate for governor. The result shows a tightening of the race, with the recent Marist poll showing Pataki leading McCall and Golisano, 52-37-11. Joseph Mercurio, Campaign Insider, has some good articles on the race, especially regarding Golisano's impact. The Marist polling included Cronin (Right To Life) getting 2% as well as Aronowitz (Green) getting 2 percent. Cuomo needs to be kept in the polling. Marist wrote some interesting random notes on this election in the summer that are coming to pass:
