Alan Page as Successor to Wellstone

The WA Post is reporting that Alan Page and Walter Mondale are under consideration for replacing Wellstone on the MN ballot. Hoping not to be disrespectful to the deep loss (Go to http://www.democrats.com to sign the letter to the Wellstone family), I am inclined to comment on this development. It does seem a bit morbid to go from sadness to punditry in a few hours; that's what having the news, on the internet right now, means.

Alan Page should get the nod. Mondale is the DFL of the past, he has a lot of baggage; sure, he's a commendable liberal voice, but not what the Democrats in MN need in the wake of Paul Wellstone. The DFL needs a transformative forward looking action that propels Wellstone's progressive voice much further into the future than having a mere placeholder. Alan Page --"If you come out of this speech with only one thing, know that we have to be involved to bring about change"-- is that voice (link to bio).
