2002 Mid-Term Election Day Notes
Liberal Oasis profiles 17 House races to keep an eye on tonight as you watch the returns roll in, along with links to recent local campaign coverage. In keeping with the 2000 results, when a switch of less than 5,000 cumulative votes scattered around the country, would have resulted in the Democratic control of the House, LO is optimistic that we’ll see a small spike in Dem turnout, or a slight lag in GOP turnout, that will have huge reverberations. Weather Update: The storm and rain conditions continue to move east across the southern and rustbelt states. The Florida panhandle, home to Bush-rich voters, is getting pounded with thunderstorms, lightening, tornados warnings and watches, hail to 0.5 inch in diameter, and wind gusts to 60 mph. Alabama is experiencing the severe storms as well. The rest of Florida is clear, or slightly cloudy. Light rain in Georgia & most of the Carolina's (except, notably for Democrats, the lowland areas of SC). Still raining in central to eastern Tennessee, strongholds of Alexander; and in parts of Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Western Pennsylvania. Rain turning to snow in Michigan. Lots of rain in West Virginia, incoming rain for Maryland. PoliticalWire has links to a number of sites posting exit polls. JB Armstrong on Nov 5 @ 1:27 PM
