Credit Due

That Kaus is flippin' out wide. He's got the whole breaking of the Lott story on the Democratic bloggers as a Sidney Blumenthal interloper thingy; "sids triumph" is what he's calling it in the URL path.

The point is just that, as long as we're giving credit to the new power of blogs in the chain of media story generation, someone should also write an article crediting the more hidden role of e-mailers like Blumenthal.

Hot damn, did he think all night on this one? Maybe we should also credit our mothers? OK, everyone will admit that the quote comes from The Note, specifically from the scribe O'Keefe. And seeing that I posted an entry on Friday Dec 6 @ 8:18 AM with the quote, I should fess up as to where I got it, right?

>Surely this should get as much press play as the Wellstone memorial.
>From The Note (Dec. 6, 2002):
> Here is what Senator Trent Lott, Republican of Mississippi, said yesterday
> Senator Strom Thurmond's birthday party, according to ABCNEWS' O'Keefe.
>"I want to say this about my state....

Kaus's second entry moves onto Carville as the behind-the-scenes suspect in overdrive... more straw-grasping. Look Mick, get a clue, every Democrat, no, every non-racist American, was outraged when they say the quote and told everyone they knew. Atrios has the latest from President Clinton.
