Political Warfare

From an article on Mitzna and the upcoming elections in Israel, The Fat Lady Has Not Yet Sung, by Uri Avnery-- five universal truths for candidates on the battlefield of political campaigning:

From my first experience, I drew a set of conclusions which I tried to apply later on:

  • First, Define your message and stick to it, without deviating left or right, whatever the temptations may be (and there are a lot).

  • Second, The message must express your inner truth. Otherwise it will convince nobody.

  • Third, The message must suit the image you have acquired before. It is very difficult to change that image during the campaign. One can only reinforce and sharpen the image that is already there.

  • Fourth, The message must be simple, clear and easy to absorb.

  • Five, Don't stutter! Don't defend yourself! Don't apologize!

Based on the latest Haaretz poll (see below) which projects the right to garner 66 seats, I'd say the fat lady is starting to croon. Unfortunately.

Good advise. Hopefully, 2002 is the last election cycle that Democrats fail to nationalize a campaign, or have a muddled message. Good advise!---Clear message, nationalize the campaign, and play to WIN, not just to avoid losing.

When Israel finally understands that the only honorable solution is for them to leave all of the occupied Palestinian territories. Leave all of the illegal land grab settlements, and that includes the largest Palestinian aquifer that was stolen as well. Then the Israeli’s must do their own manual labor and stop exploiting the poor Palestinian people. Only when the Israeli’s have done this, will they have legitimacy. Then the rest of the world will accept them. Only then will they be allowed to live at peace with their neighbors. I hope to one-day travel to Israel, meet the people and enjoy the hospitality of a country living in peace.

"Five, Don't stutter! Don't defend yourself! Don't apologize!"

Are we sure that they didn't borrow these from BushCo?
