Bush Bribes not for US

Matthew Langer has started a fine political weblog, Untelevised, Tranmissions From The Left. He's got a post up on the much-waited for "laughing point" for Fleishcher: Ari's Briefing, 2/25

MR. FLEISCHER: I haven't seen the story. And you already have the answer, about what this will be decided on. But think about the implications of what you're saying. You're saying that the leaders of other nations are buyable. And that is not an acceptable proposition. (Laughter.)

What's indicated by "(Laughter.)" in the official White House transcript was actually an eruption of derisive laughter from the whole of the press corps, followed by Fleischer's immediate departure and an audible exchange of jokes among the reporters.

Ari's right, it is not an acceptable proposition. And that's why the Bush administration is wrong to be engaged in such activity. $16 Billion to Turkey, and who knows what to Mexico, Guinea, Angola...

As for this nation, it's "No money for you!"

what I don't understand-
how can the executive branch "buy-off"
these nations with multi million $ bribes? I thought the legislative branch controlled the purse strings.
Wouldn't this have to be debated and approved by Congress???

Congress does indeed have to approve these funds to bribe our "allies." They have to take it on faith the Busheviks can deliver the dough.

See Buzzflash for an excellent rm file on Ari the Liar's humiliation.

He can rationalize it any way he wants, but he was humiliated. They laughed to his face and he turned and ran. I thought he was going to end up in Nebraska this morning, but apparently he's still in DC.

At long last, Ari, have you no shame!?

That "no money for you" goes DOUBLY for YOU JEB!!!

Actually, the joy of watching Bush & Co. in action is that I believe the latest beneficial effects of the tax cut for the affluent is "economic stimulus". Of course, the "economic stimulus" will, by definition, be more than offset by the INCREASED taxation imposed by state and municipal governments to compensate for lost federal revenue.

We keep misunderestimating Bush.
