Fallout

While this reckless administration is ramping up the war-talk of WMD in Syria and "rougue nation" rhetoric, there's notable dissent, even if it's only printed in places like Salon and in the UK.

The article interviewing Reagan Jr in Salon is worth the read. While containing much on Reagan Jr lambasting Bush over the 'world's policeman' warmongering, but this is something that otherwise stands out:

Reagan says his family feels particularly alienated from the Republican Party over its opposition to embryonic stem cell research, which could have significant benefit for Alzheimer patients like his father. "Now ignorance is one thing, ignorance can be cured. But many of the Republican leaders opposing this research know better, people like [Senate Majority Leader] Bill Frist, who's a doctor, for God's sake. People like him are blocking it to pander to the 20 percent of their base who are mouth-breathers. And that's unconscionable -- there are lives at stake here. Stem cell research can revolutionize medicine, more than anything since antibiotics."

How good it would be to see Ronald Reagan Jr. speaking at the 2004 Democratic convention; and how long before you see this on Fox News?

Lawrence Eagleburger, who was US Secretary of State under George Bush Snr, told the BBC: "If George Bush [Jnr] decided he was going to turn the troops loose on Syria and Iran after that he would last in office for about 15 minutes. In fact if President Bush were to try that now even I would think that he ought to be impeached. You can't get away with that sort of thing in this democracy."
